There are only about seven hundred mountain gorillas left living in the Virunga mountains on the border to Rwanda, Uganda and Congo. Parc des Vulcans is part of the most important conservation area for the mountain gorilla. This is where Dian Fossey carried out her research creating the foundation for gorilla tourism.
